Adele’s “25” Pacing To Break Sales Record; 2.5-2.9 Million Currently Expected

Barring a sudden — and highly unlikely — collapse, Adele’s “25” will break the Soundscan-era opening week sales record.

According to Hits Daily Double, the blockbuster album is on track for a first week US total in the 2.5-2.9 million range. The range is wider than usual due to the unprecedented pace at which “25” is selling.

Even a total at the bottom of that range would set the record, which currently belongs to *NSYNC’s “No Strings Attached.” The 2000 release sold 2.416 million US copies.

Adele promoted “25” with a pair of performances on Saturday’s “SNL.” She will also be performing on Monday’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and Wednesday’s TODAY Show.
