Vince Staples’ “Summertime ’06” Debuts with 11.9K First Week Sales

Vince Staples’ “Summertime ’06,” which received widespread critical acclaim, begins its run at #20 on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart.

Due to its comparatively light individual track sales and streaming activity, it starts at #39 on the revamped, consumption-oriented Billboard 200.

According to Nielsen Music, “Summertime ’06” shifted 11,937 copies during the June 29-July 5 tracking week. That ranks as the week’s 9th-best pure sales total for a new release and 20th-best overall.

With Track Equivalent Albums (10 single sales = 1 album sale) and Streaming Equivalent Albums (1500 single streams = 1 album sale) included, the album’s first week consumption total registers at 13,776 album equivalent units. That positions “Summertime ’06” at #39 on the Billboard 200.
