For the second consecutive weekend, critically acclaimed film “Gone Girl” overcame a Friday deficit to claim victory at the box office.

This weekend, its key source of opposition was “Dracula: Untold,” which was the #1 film on Friday. By Sunday, however, “Gone Girl” was the clear winner with an estimated grab of $26.8 million.

“Dracula,” the week’s best performing new release and second strongest film overall, earned $23.5 million.

Fellow newcomer “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” landed in third with $19.1 million, while last week’s runner-up “Annabelle” slipped to fourth with $16.4 million in receipts.

New release “The Judge” grabbed fifth place on the strength of $13.3 million.

Sixth place went to “The Equalizer” ($9.7 million), while “Addicted,” which launched on 846 screens, claimed seventh with $7.6 million.
