It might not have enough juice to dethrone the “Frozen” soundtrack on the Billboard 200 overall album sales chart, but Shakira’s “Shakira” will easily rank as the week’s strongest debut.
According to Hits Daily Double, the Colombian’s latest is tracking to move 70-75,000 copies in its inaugural week. Down from the 89,000 moved by predecessor “She Wolf,” the total is expected to double that of its closest competitor.
Johnny Cash’s “Out Among the Stars,” that competitor, is tracking to move 30-35,000. Other notable debuts include Memphis May Fire’s “Unconditional” (pacing for 28-32,000), Kari Jobe’s “Majestic” (21-24,000), Erica Campbell’s “Help” (18-21,000), Barry Manilow’s “Night Songs” (18-21,000) and Jerrod Niemann’s “High Noon” (12-14,000).
Karmin’s “Pulses,” absent from Hits’ report, is presumably tracking for less than the Niemann album.
