Agreeing with Hits Daily Double’s consumption and sales charts when it comes to the week’s top albums, Billboard confirms that Rihanna’s “ANTI” is #1 on this week’s Billboard 200 chart, while Joey + Rory’s “Hymns” is the leader on Top Album Sales.
Thanks to what Billboard reports as 54K total consumption units, Rihanna’s “ANTI” rises two places to #1 on the consumption-driven Billboard 200 chart.
In returning to the #1 position it first reached in its second week on the chart, “ANTI” becomes Rihanna’s first multi-week leader on the chart. “Unapologetic,” her only other #1, ruled for just one week.
The BB200 ranks albums based on the sum of pure sales, Track Equivalent Albums (track sales/10) and Streaming Equivalent Albums (track streams/1500).
Adele’s “25” holds at #2 on the BB200, while Justin Bieber’s “Purpose” (#3, +2), Joey + Rory’s “Hymns” (#4, +2), and Kendrick Lamar’s “untitled unmastered” (#5, -4) form the balance of the Top 5.
— As noted, “Hymns” leads the weekly, sales-only Top Album Sales chart; Billboard credits the album with 44K copies sold during the March 11-17 tracking week.
Physical sales from Cracker Barrel stores/restaurants reportedly played a big role in the weekly victory.
