Coldplay, Brantley Gilbert Lead Album Sales Race, Mariah, Mahone Follow

Challenged by a group of modest debuts, Coldplay’s “Ghost Stories” and Brantley Gilbert’s “Just as I Am” retain the top two spots on the Billboard 200 album sales chart.

“Ghost Stories,” which dominated the charts last week, again reigns supreme. It does so thanks to sales of 83,000.

Gilbert’s album, meanwhile, adds 65,000 to its count.

Responsible for the artist’s worst non-holiday opening sales week since 1990, Mariah Carey’s “Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse” lands at third on the strength of 58,000 sales. “Frozen” follows in fourth place with a similar total, while Austin Mahone’s new “The Secret” EP claims fifth with 46,000.

Other top ten albums include NOW 51 (41,000, #6), Michael Jackson’s “Xscape” (35,000, #7), The Black Keys’ “Turn Blue” (32,000, #8), Crowder’s “Neon Steeple” (22,000, #9) and Iggy Azalea’s “The New Classic” (18,000, #10).
