The journey to making good on its title will require some time, but the album will at least get to celebrate a #1 sales position in the interim.
Immediately upon releasing Tuesday, Miranda Lambert’s new album “Platinum” reached number one in the iTunes Album Sales Chart. While a numerical sales forecast is not yet available, the album is also expected to reign over next week’s overall Billboard 200 album sales chart.
Coldplay’s “Ghost Stories,” which will likely earn a second week at number one on the current week’s Billboard 200 chart, is currently #2 on iTunes. It leads Emblem3’s “Songs from the Couch, Volume 1” (#3) and Lucy Hale’s debut “Road Between” (#4). Birdy’s “Fire Within” is currently in fifth position.
Other albums in the iTunes top 10 include the Broadway cast recording of “If/Then” (#6), Matisyahu’s “Akeda” (#7), the soundtrack to “The Fault in Our Stars” (#8), Brantley Gilbert’s “Just as I Am” (#9) and the pre-order for 5 Seconds of Summer’s self-titled debut (#10).
