Taylor Swift’s “Lover” will predictably deliver the year’s best opening week sales and consumption numbers.
According to very early projections from Hits Daily Double, the album is expected to sell 600-675K pure US sales this week. With units from track sales and streams included, it may generate 725-825K in total first-week consumption. It is obviously a lock to top this week’s pure sales and consumption charts.
Projections at this point are, of course, very rough. More precise numbers should arrive in the coming days.
What is already clear, however, is that “Lover” will post the best opening week marks of 2019. Jonas Brothers’ “Happiness Begins,” which currently holds the high marks, opened with 357K pure sales and 414K total units.
It also appears unlikely that “Lover” will match the 1.24 million unit debut mark (1.22 million from sales) attained by Swift’s last album “reputation.”
