It did not perform as dominantly as the past few “Fast & Furious” films, but spin-off “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw” still comfortably took #1 at the US weekend box office.
Per studio estimates, the film will close its opening weekend with $60.8 million in receipts. The figure, though down from the $98.8 million earned by 2017’s “The Fate Of the Furious,” convincingly ranks as this weekend’s best tally.
“The Lion King,” winner of the past two weekends, falls to #2 with $38.2 million (cume now $430.9 million). “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” drops one place to #3 with $20.0 million (cume now $78.8 million).
“Spider-Man: Far From Home” falls one place to #4 with $7.8 million (cume now $360.3 million), and “Toy Story 4” drops a rung to #5 with $7.2 million (cume now $410.1 million).
