Some pieces of news are surprising.
Others epitomize the notion of predictable. This is one of those stories.
Shortly after its official launch late Thursday/early Friday, Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next” rocketed to #1 on the all-genre US iTunes sales chart.
It will surely stay in that position for the better part of the weekend — if not longer.
“thank u, next” is the follow-up to Grande’s chart-topping, Grammy-nominated smash “sweetener.” It is a virtual lock to top the Billboard 200 in its own right.
It, moreover, has already produced two multi-week #1 singles in the title track and “7 rings.”
