Get Out Movie [Universal Pictures]

The critically acclaimed “Get Out” debuts as a convincing #1 at the US weekend box office.

Per studio estimates, Jordan Peele’s directorial debut will earn $30.5 million in its first weekend. The tally gives “Get Out” a comfortable edge over the #2 film.

“The LEGO Batman Movie,” that #2 film, added $19.0 million to its haul this weekend. Its cumulative total is now $133.0 million.

“John Wick: Chapter 2” rises one spot to #3 with $9.0 million (cume now $74.4 million), while “The Great Wall” slips one spot to #4 courtesy a weekend tally of $8.7 million (cume now $34.4 million).

Down three places, “Fifty Shades Darker” takes #5 on the strength of its $7.7 million in weekend receipts (cume now $103.6 million).

While “Get Out” debuts at #1, neither of the weekend’s other big releases reaches the Top 10. “Rock Dog,” which opened in just under 2100 theaters, grabs #11 with $3.7 million. “Collide” starts at #13; it earned a mere $1.5 million from over 2000 screens.
