Green Day’s “Revolution Radio” Pacing To Win US Album Sales Race

Green Day’s new “Revolution Radio” is predictably on track to win the weekly US album sales race. It should also claim #1 on the Billboard 200.

Based on opening day sales data, “Revolution Radio” is tracking to sell 74-79,000 pure US copies this week. Barring a surprise release, the tally will easily rank as this week’s best pure sales total.

“Revolution Radio” is not generating a particularly substantial amount of TEA (track sales/10) or SEA (track streams/1500), but its overall consumption total is also pacing to be the week’s best. A victory in the consumption race would result in #1 on the Billboard 200.

If “Revolution Radio” indeed debuts at #1, it will be Green Day’s first Billboard 200 chart-topper since 2009’s “21st Century Breakdown.” The respective components of the “Uno! Dos! Tre!” trilogy, which represent the direct predecessor to “Revolution Radio,” peaked at #2, #9, and #13.
