Report: Adele’s “25” Sells Another ~787K, Wins Fourth Straight Sales Race

Thanks to another strong weekly performance, Adele’s “25” dominated a fourth straight sales race.

According to Hits Daily Double, “25” sold approximately 786,901 US copies during the December 11-17 tracking week. Billboard’s more authoritative data will differ slightly, but it will not remotely affect the outcome: “25” will retain its #1 spot on the Top Album Sales chart.

Going into the tracking week, “25” boasted a cumulative US sales total of 5.186 million. The latest weekly tally brings it within striking distance of 6 million.

In terms of the weekly sales race, no album rivaled the “25” performance. The closest competition came from Pentatonix’s “That’s Christmas To Me,” which Hits estimates sold 122,466 weekly copies.

Other notable pure sales performers: Justin Bieber’s “Purpose” (~102,084), Chris Stapleton’s “Traveller” (~52,309), and Coldplay’s “A Head Full Of Dreams” (~48,758).

— Adele’s “25” will also extend its reign atop the consumption-oriented Billboard 200. Data for that chart, which accounts for the sum of sales, Track Equivalent Albums (track sales/10) and Streaming Equivalent Albums (track streams/1500) will be issued Sunday.
