Justin Bieber’s “Purpose,” which outperformed One Direction’s “Made In The AM” in week one, also managed to hold up better in week two.
According to Nielsen Music, “Purpose” sold 183,562 pure US copies during its second week of release. The figure, which trails last week’s mark by 65%, easily tops the week two figure posted by “Made In The AM.”
One Direction’s album sold 76,735 pure US copies during its second week release. That marks a decline of 81% from last week’s opening week sum.
With Track Equivalent Albums (10 single sales = 1 unit) and Streaming Equivalent Albums (1500 single streams = 1 unit) included, “Purpose” generated 290,000 week two consumption units (-55%). “Made In The AM” generated 108,000 (-76%).
“Purpose” takes #2 on this week’s editions of the Billboard Top Album Sales (pure sales) and Billboard 200 (consumption) charts. One Direction’s “Made In The AM” follows at #3 on both listings.
Thanks to its record-breaking totals, Adele’s “25” obviously grabs #1 on the pair of listings.
