The sales forecast for The Game’s “The Documentary 2” has been upgraded, but it remains slightly below the tally expected of Selena Gomez’ “Revival.”
Gomez’ album, meanwhile, is on pace to convincingly win the total consumption race — and thus claim #1 on the Billboard 200.
According to Hits Daily Double, “The Documentary 2” is now expected to sell 75-80,000 pure copies during the October 9-15 tracking week. That falls just below the 80-85,000 now expected of Gomez’ new studio album.
This weekend, Hits was eyeing first week pure sales totals of 75-85,000 for “Revival” and 60-70,000 for “Documentary 2.”
With two full days remaining in the tracking week, The Game’s album can certainly close the gap. As it currently stands, however, “Revival” is set to narrowly win the weekly sales race.
Its win in the consumption battle will come courtesy a wider margin. With Track Equivalent Albums (10 single sales = 1 album equivalent unit) and Streaming Equivalent Albums (1500 single streams = 1 album equivalent unit) included, Hits eyes a 105-115,000 first week consumption total for “Revival.”
“The Documentary 2” is expected to post a first week consumption total of 85-95,000 units.
The consumption battle informs the revamped Billboard 200.
