The Weeknd’s Album Sales Forecast Upgraded to 325-350K; Halsey Now 85-90K

The first day of the August 28-September 3 sales week is officially in the books, and the available data reflects stronger than anticipated interest in The Weeknd’s “Beauty Behind the Madness” and Halsey’s “Badlands.”

As a result, the opening week forecast for both albums has been upgraded.

Per Hits Daily Double, The Weeknd’s album is tracking for a pure sales debut in the 325-350,000 range. Halsey’s “Badlands” should move 85-90,000 first week copies.

The industry initially expected 250,000 for “Beauty Behind the Madness” and 70-80,000 for “Badlands.”

The Weeknd’s forecast, moreover, could receive another boost if his MTV Video Music Awards performance resonates with viewers.

Barring a surprise album release in conjunction with the VMAs, “Beauty” and “Badlands” should claim the top two spots on this week’s album sales chart.
