Sam Hunt is the hottest new act in country music.
He is also responsible for the genre’s best-selling song and album of 2015.
According to Nielsen Music, Hunt’s “Take Your Time,” which is on the verge of hitting #1 at country radio, is currently 2015’s best selling country track. It shifted a total of 619,000 copies during the year’s first quarter.
Not simply the best selling song of 2015, “Take Your Time” is the only one to boast a year-to-date sales count in excess of 500,000. Zac Brown Band’s “Homegrown,” the year’s next-best-seller, moved 381,000 paid downloads in the first three months of 2015.
Hunt’s debut studio release “Montevallo,” meanwhile, boast 2015’s greatest country album sales total. At the end of Q1, its year-to-date sales total stood at 199,000.
Luke Bryan’s “Spring Break…Checkin’ Out,” 2015’s #2 country album, moved 137,000 copies in the first quarter. While it did not shift as many first quarter units as “Montevallo,” it was disadvantaged by the fact that it did not even arrive until March 10.
