“The Hobbit” Stays #1 at Box Office, “Woman in Black 2” Opens at #4

After challenging for the #1 spot at the Friday box office, newcomer “The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death” had fallen to #4 by the end of the weekend.

The film, which grossed an estimated $15.1 million in its first weekend of release, allowed last week’s top three films to again claim top three positions.

“The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies,” last week’s leader, repeated at #1. Thanks to an additional $21.9 million in receipts, the film also moved past the $200 million cumulative mark this weekend (its total now stands at $220.8 million).

“Into the Woods,” which was #3 in last week’s estimated report but #2 in the final listing, held at #2 this weekend. It added $19.1 million to its total.

“Unbroken” remained the #3 film with a total weekend gross of $18.4 million. “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” trailed “Woman” with a fifth-place, $14.5 million finish.
