This past week brought 2014’s best one-two punch on the Billboard 200 album sales chart.
The chart’s top two respective positions were seized by Coldplay’s “Ghost Stories” and Brantley Gilbert’s “Just as I Am,” which both got off to very solid sales starts.
Now the owner of 2014’s best opening week, Coldplay’s “Ghost Stories” debuted to a total of 383,000. While the mark continues the band’s streak of sales declines–the releases since 2005’s “X&Y” have all sold less than their predecessors–it represents a strong total in the today’s music climate.
Brantley Gilbert, meanwhile, earned the best sales week of his career. “Just as I Am” debuted to the welcome tune of 211,000 sales.
