Penn State Scandal Means Little for NBC’s “Rock Center” Ratings

It’s still more cost-effective than the typical scripted series, but it’s simply not going to be a wavemaker for NBC.

“Rock Center with Brian Williams” again underwhelmed in the ratings Monday, scoring just a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating with 4.5 million viewers. Though improved from its first two airings, that is hardly a “winner” of a figure for an episode that featured an interview with Jerry Sandusky, the center of the Penn State scandal.

Worse, due to a local pre-emption for the Vikings-Packers game in Minneapolis, there is even a possibility the 1.3 rating is inflated and could come down in the final nationals.

“Rock Center” moves to Wednesdays at 9PM at midseason.

Earlier in the night, NBC’s “The Sing Off,” which completely failed as a fall series, flopped again with a 1.5 and 4.8 million viewers.
