The star-studded “Avengers” film predictably had a mammoth opening day.

Based on very early numbers, “Avengers: Infinity War” appeared to have a shot at the #2 weekend gross in US box office history.

As it had an even better Friday than expected, that outcome now appears to be a lock. It may, in fact, even have a shot at the all-time record.

The loaded Marvel Universe film earned roughly $107 million at the Friday box office (with $39 million in Thursday previews included). Based on that performance, analysts believe it could close the weekend with $240-250 million in receipts.

Should it land at the high end of that range, it would break the $247.97 million record held by “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

At worst, it takes second place on the all-time leaderboard. “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” currently holds that distinction with $220.0 million.

“Infinity War,” obviously, ranked as Friday’s #1 film.

“A Quiet Place” took second place with $3 million, while a gross of $2.5 million positioned “I Feel Pretty” as the day’s #3 film.

“Rampage” (just under $2 million, #4) and “Black Panther” (just over $1 million, #5) completed the Top 5.
