Update: A press release from PepsiCo details Tinashe’s upcoming guest appearance on “Empire.”

According to Pepsi, Tinashe will cameo in an upcoming episode of the hit TV series. She will be seen working with Jamal on his musical tribute/visual album.

The storyline, which begins on the “Empire” TV series, will continue on the newly announced social media companion series “Emerge.” Recording artist Jidenna and “Empire” actresses Gabourey Sidibe and Ta’Rhonda Jones will also appear in the newly announced “Emerge” social series.

Consisting of nine episodes, “Emerge” will follow Becky (Sidibe) and Porsha (Jones) as they search for the most promising artist to be featured on Jamal’s upcoming album. The Pepsi Sound Drop program will factor into the storyline, with real-life Sound Drop artists Tinashe and Jidenna playing themselves.

A press release on Tinashe’s new, Sir Nolan-produced single “Flame” contained a very interesting bit of news: the acclaimed artist is confirmed for a guest arc on “Empire.”

According to the press release, Tinashe and fellow artist Jidenna will appear in a “multi-episode storyline” that involves the creation of a visual album for Jamal (Jussie Smollett).

An airdate for Tinashe’s first “Empire” appearance has not yet been announced.

The appearance is a tie-in between FOX’s “Empire” and the Pepsi Sound Drop program. Tinashe was recently announced as the newest Sound Drop artist.
