“The Martian” Wins Another Weekend Box Office as “Burnt,” “Our Brand Is Crisis” Flop

Absent meaningful competition from the week’s newcomers, “The Martian” wins its second straight (and fourth total) weekend box office.

This week’s victory comes courtesy an estimated $11.4 million in weekend receipts. “Goosebumps,” which follows at #2, earned $10.2 million during the October 30-November 1 weekend.

“Brides of Spies” again follows at #3 ($8.1 million), while “Hotel Transylvania 2” advances one place to #4 ($5.8 million).

“Burnt,” the highest-grossing of the week’s newcomers, arrives at #5. The film earned a paltry $5.0 million from 3,003 screens.

“Our Brand Is Crisis” ($3.4 million, 2,202 screens, #8) and “Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse” ($1.8 million, #12, 1,509 screens) also struggled.
