Zedd & Selena Gomez’ “I Want You To Know” Certified Platinum in the US

Update: The RIAA has confirmed that Zedd’s “I Want You To Know (featuring Selena Gomez)” was certified platinum under its digital singles program.

The certification confirms a US unit total of at least 1 million; one unit is equal to one paid download or 100 streams.

“I Want You To Know,” the lead single from Zedd’s “True Colors,” has finally been certified by the RIAA.

The single, which credits Selena Gomez as a featured artist, officially received a platinum certification on October 19, 2015.

The RIAA’s website curiously identifies the honor as a “standard” (shipments) certification. The listing is unusual for the association, which generally certifies singles under its “digital” (paid downloads and streams) program.

Headline Planet will seek clarity on the matter. For now, one can state — with certainty — that “I Want You To Know” boasts a US unit total in excess of 1 million. One unit is equal to a paid download (or for-sale physical shipment) or 100 streams.

— In addition to its platinum certification, “I Want You To Know” retroactively received a Gold honor (500,000+) on October 19.
