Kendrick Lamar Leads Album Sales Chart, Marina & The Diamonds Follows

Update: Some are indicating that the album is again listed as a pre-order and thus unavailable for download on iTunes. That runs counter to the rapper’s own Monday morning Tweet, which provided a direct link to purchase “To Pimp a Butterfly” on iTunes.

The album also remains available on the major streaming services.
===================

The early release of Kendrick Lamar’s “To Pimp a Butterfly” might have caught the market by surprise, but it did not quell interest in the album.

The explicit edition of the rapper’s latest album quickly shot to into the #1 position on the iTunes Album Sales chart, and it is showing no sign of relenting.

Expected to also win the overall album sales race, “To Pimp a Butterfly” is also represented by a clean version at #10 on the chart.

Marina & The Diamonds’ new “FROOT” follows at #2, while the recently launched “Empire” soundtrack holds the #3 position. Drake’s enduring “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” (#4) and Luke Bryan’s “Spring Break…Checkin’ Out” (#5) claim the final two top 5 positions.

Other top ten albums include the “50 Shades of Grey” soundtrack (#6), Taylor Swift’s “1989” (#7), Madonna’s “Rebel Heart” (#8) and Big Sean’s “Dark Sky Paradise” (#9).
