Fifth Harmony’s “Reflection” Rises to #1 on Album Sales Chart

Update: Nearly 48 hours have passed since Fifth Harmony’s “Reflection” formally debuted, and it remains the top seller on iTunes.

It is not, however, expected to win the overall weekly sales race. Projected to sell 60-65,000 copies in its first week, Fifth Harmony’s “Reflection” will trail newcomer NOW 53 and possibly Taylor Swift’s “1989” on the pure sales leaderboard.

===================
The week’s highest-profile new release is currently the highest-charting album on iTunes.

The deluxe edition of Fifth Harmony’s “Reflection,” which enters the market after numerous delays but also amid healthy anticipation, currently holds the #1 position on the US iTunes album sales chart. The standard issue is slotted at #29.

A buzzworthy album that generated solid pre-order interest and ample enthusiasm from the group’s passionate fanbase, “Reflection” reached that top spot immediately upon release. The challenge now becomes sustaining a favorable chart position on iTunes — and performing well in the overall marketplace.

The pre-order for Shawn Mendes’ “Handwritten,” which spent much of Monday in the #1 position, is now #2 on the iTunes album sales chart. Taylor Swift’s blockbuster “1989” follows at #3, while Diana Krall’s “Wallflower” (#4) and Fall Out Boy’s “American Beauty/American Psycho” (#5) complete the top five.

Ed Sheeran’s “x” (#6), Meghan Trainor’s “Title” (#7), Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection” (#8), the pre-order for the “50 Shades of Grey” soundtrack (#9) and J. Cole’s “2014 Forest Hills Drive” (#10) are also on the radar.
