In a move “American Horror Story” creator Ryan Murphy claims was the plan from the very beginning, the edgy FX series killed off another lead character Wednesday.
Vivien Harmon, played by Connie Britton, died while giving birth to her twins, in a bloody, haunting scene that saw a number of the ghost characters help deliver the baby. The death led to a touching moment in which Vivien reunited with her dead daughter Violet; though Vivien apparently lost her two babies to other interested parties, she still had her baby Violet.
While Violet’s reconciliation with her mother made for a happy moment, her relationship with Tate seemingly came to a bitter end. Having learned about Tate’s other murders (including his role in killing Chad and Pat) and the fact that he raped her mother, Violet declared that she could no longer forgive Tate’s darkness. Refusing to be with him any longer, she ordered him to “go away,” capitalizing on the ghost-repellent advice a young Tate learned when confronted by Thaddeus (the Infantata) and later shared with his true love.
Though Tate vanished at the end of this week’s episode, Ryan Murphy tells Entertainment Weekly that the character will be present in next week’s season finale and that his relationship with Violet will get some attention. But those hoping for a vastly different resolution might be disappointed, unless, of course, the show’s creator is being deliberately misleading: “He does come back in the finale and their relationship is played out in the finale. But for the most part that was the conclusion of the relationship.”
So what about the babies? Nora took the weaker one (possibly stillborn), and Constance the other (and she seemed sure the one she claimed was indeed the one Tate fathered). Hayden, meanwhile, has her sights set on the Constance baby.
Going into the finale, many “American Horror” fans will be anxiously anticipating their first look at Constance’s baby. Moira and Constance used words like “perfect” and “beautiful” to describe the child, but if it is indeed the Tate baby (and potentially the anti-Christ), will the appearance be a bit more complicated?
Ryan Murphy noted that “the finale has, to me, the most shocking scene we’ve ever done. Every time I edit it, I literally have to cover my eyes.”
I was pretty saddened when I found out I had to work late at DISH because I knew I was going to miss my show AHS. It is almost coming to an end. Luckily I remembered I have DISH Online which allows me to watch thousands of FREE TV shows and even my DVR events right on my computer. So I was able to catch up quickly. I can’t believe Vivien died and now is stuck in the house. I want to see what happened to the first baby. I can only wait patiently for the last episode.
