Melanie Martinez’ “Pity Party” Earns Gold Certification In The US

This past May, “Pity Party” became the first Melanie Martinez single to crack the Top 40 at US pop radio.

This past July, it became her second gold-certified single in the United States.

Martinez’ single earned the honor, which confirms a US unit total of 500,000, on July 28, 2016. Under the terms of the RIAA’s digital singles program, each unit is equal to 1 paid download or 150 streams.

Martinez also holds a gold digital single award for “Dollhouse.” “Cry Baby,” the album on which they appear, is gold under the RIAA’s albums program.
