This past May, “Pity Party” became the first Melanie Martinez single to crack the Top 40 at US pop radio.

This past July, it became her second gold-certified single in the United States.

Martinez’ single earned the honor, which confirms a US unit total of 500,000, on July 28, 2016. Under the terms of the RIAA’s digital singles program, each unit is equal to 1 paid download or 150 streams.

Martinez also holds a gold digital single award for “Dollhouse.” “Cry Baby,” the album on which they appear, is gold under the RIAA’s albums program.
