Though its gross was annihilated by that of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” when the films made their respective debuts last weekend, sleeper standout “The Blind Side” pulled out a box office victory on Thanksgiving Day this week.
The Sandra Bullock football film grossed $9.5 million Thursday, topping the $9.2 million for “New Moon.” The strong Thanksgiving performance speaks phenomenally about the film’s audience holdover potential for this weekend.
Over the past two days, “New Moon” is nonetheless the winner–it leads by about $23.5 million to $17.4 million.
New releases “Ninja Assassin” and “Old Dogs” both took a backseat to last week’s leaders; “Assassin” earned $4.6 million Thursday ($7.9 million since Wednesday), while “Old Dogs” pulled in $4.1 million of its $7.2 million total on Thanksgiving.
Expanded release “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” now in 2027 theatres, grossed $1.35 million Thursday and $1.1 million Wednesday.
Ninja Assassin sucked! Substandard action. Bad acting. Terrible story. Rain is an idiot, who claims he’s the next Bruce Lee. What a joke.
The Blind Side was amazing. New Moon-fair. I agree with previous poster-Ninja sucked!
Enjoyed watching Ninja Assassin. Tje action scenes especially the road scene were exciting and interesting to watch. Rain had trained hard and well amd thus was able to display superb fighting skills for the movie. No wonder there was talk of him playing Bruce Lee in an upcoming movie and making a sequel to Ninja Assassin.
LOVED Ninja Assassin. Good in the kung fu-fantasy genre. Rain did a fine job as did Naomie Harris. I look forward to seeing Rain in future action films. He has a strong screen presence, Besides, we need a new young action star. Rain can definitely fill the bill.
LOL I just took the twilight quiz and found out I’m Esme Cullen!
Hey they blind side sucked. Ninja Assassin and New Moon were far better. NA was best. I just don’t get why people like movies about poor black people making it. The system is fucked up might as well just make a movie about a black person winning the lottery.
