What initially seemed like the fantasy of those unable to accept that “Breaking Bad” was ending is now almost a reality.
AMC and Sony Pictures Television have officially entered into a licensing agreement for the new series, which would focus on “Bad” supporting character Saul Goodman.
Tentatively titled “Better Call Saul,” the spin-off would chronicle the exploits of Goodman, played by bob Odenkirk, before he became Walt White’s lawyer.

AMC and Sony Pictures Television confirmed today that they have reached a licensing agreement for a spinoff of Vince Gilligan’s landmark AMC/SPT series Breaking Bad. As conceived, the new series is based on the show’s popular Saul Goodman character with the working title Better Call Saul. Plans call for Saul to be a one-hour prequel that will focus on the evolution of the popular Saul Goodman character before he ever became Walter White’s lawyer.
Though a series order has not yet been confirmed, the licensing agreement is a positive sign for “Breaking Bad” fans. And, according to Deadline, the series order is due to come as soon as Sony irons out deals for “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan, writer-producer Peter Gould and actor Bob Odenkirk.
Only three episodes of the original “Breaking Bad” remain.
