Given Demi Lovato’s recent string of successful singles, including “Skyscraper,” “Give Your Heart a Break” and “Heart Attack,” expectations were justifiably high for her new album “DEMI.”
And the album’s opening sales frame might top that of predecessor “Unbroken.” Unfortunately, the album will likely miss out on number one.
Based on opening day sales data, Billboard projects a debut-week tally of 100-110,000 for “DEMI,” which would mark a slight increase from the 96,000 units moved by “Unbroken.” Vampire Weekend’s “Modern Vampires of the City,” however, is pacing for about 120,000, which would essentially match the 124,000 moved by predecessor “Contra.”
But Lovato and Vampire Weekend are not alone in the race; George Strait’s “Love is Everything” is also eyeing a spot near the chart’s apex. As with “DEMI,” Billboard is forecasting a 100-110,000 opening week total for “Love.”
