In a July 2017 Tweet, country superstar Keith Urban delivered a serious compliment to singer-songwriter Julia Michaels: “Always wondered what Joni Mitchell might sound like if she was 23 in 2017. Thx to @imjmichaels’ ‘Just Do It’ now I know!! Addictive”
The two later connected on a project: Michaels co-wrote Urban’s recently released song “Parallel Line.”
That professional relationship will continue. Urban confirms that his next radio single will be a collaboration with Michaels.
According to Capitol Nashville, “Coming Home (featuring Julia Michaels)” will be serviced to country radio at 6AM ET on March 21. It will presumably debut on digital platforms on or around the same time.
It will officially impact the format in conjunction with the March 26 add board.
“Coming Home” will serve as the follow-up to Urban’s “Female.” The song peaked at #10 on the Mediabase country radio singles chart.
The song continues the recent trend of country-pop collaborations. Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant To Be,” the most successful of those collaborations, is enjoying a sixteenth week at #1 on Billboard Hot Country Songs.
