Ariana Grande’s “Dangerous Woman” Received 1,475 Day One Pop Spins, Set For Big Chart Debut

The lead single and title track from Ariana Grande’s “Dangerous Woman” had a huge first day at pop radio. It will accordingly make a huge splash on this week’s Mediabase official pop radio airplay chart.

Aided by “on the hour” airplay campaigns and a significant level of hype, “Dangerous Woman” received 1,475 Mediabase-monitored pop spins on Friday, March 11.

The impressive spin count positions “Dangerous Woman” at #33 on Mediabase’s building airplay chart.

“Dangerous Woman” will not receive as many spins on Saturday, but it is certain to remain comfortably in the Top 40 through the close of the March 6-12 tracking week. A Top 30 position is not impossible.

For starters, Adele’s building #22 “Hello” is due to be removed as a recurrent this week. The removal will cause all songs below “Hello” to move up by one spot on the final chart.

“Dangerous Woman” would then only have to overtake two from the combination of Nathan Sykes’ “Over And Over Again (featuring Ariana Grande)” (building #30 | 1,579 spins | +1.7%), James Bay’s “Let It Go” (building #31 | 1,526 spins | +10.3%) and Adele’s “When We Were Young” (building #32 | 1,503 spins | -61.9%) to reach the Top 30.

And even if it falls short of the Top 30, a debut position of #31 or #32 is impressive — promotional first day airplay notwithstanding — for a song that debuted on the sixth day of the seven-day tracking week.
