Ratings: USA Network’s “Colony” Disappoints

Hope that USA Network’s “Colony” would emerge as a major cable hit was thwarted by Thursday’s cable ratings report.

The premiere episode delivered soft adults 18-49 and total viewership numbers.

Per Nielsen L+SD cable data, the episode posted a 0.44 in the key adults 18-49 demographic and reached a total of 1.359 million total viewers. While neither number is terrible in today’s climate, they do not remotely befit the hype and promotion afforded to this show.

The episode’s early streaming and on-demand availability may have had a moderately adverse impact on Thursday’s ratings performance, but it is doubtfully the only factor that prevented “Colony” from posting blockbuster numbers.

And while early streamers may start watching the television broadcast in the coming weeks, those unimpressed with the initial television broadcast may stop watching. There is thus no guarantee the show will enjoy net improvement in the coming weeks.
