August Alsina’s “This Thing Called Life” Pacing For 30-35,000 US Sales

Preceded by a buzz-generating leak, August Alsina’s “This Thing Called Life” officially arrived on December 11.

Based on its day one performance, Hits Daily Double expects it to post an opening week US sales total of approximately 30-35,000.

While that total will position “This Thing Called Life” as one of the week’s top newcomers (along with R. Kelly’s “The Buffet,” approx. 28-33,000, and Cam’s “Untamed,” approx. 24-27,000), it represents a far cry from that of Alsina’s previous release.

His 2014 album “Testimony” sold 67,000 US copies in its first week of availability.

Since release day shifted to Friday, initial album sales projections have been subject to a greater margin of error. Readers are advised, therefore, to check back later this week for a revised projection.
