Last week, Jordan Smith’s “Halo” debuted at #88 on the all-encompassing Billboard Hot 100 chart.
This week, his “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” debuts at an even more impressive position.
The Team Adam contestant’s version of the song takes #30 on the latest Hot 100.
As a point of comparison (and to illustrate the magnitude of the achievement), Smith’s song is positioned between Fetty Wap’s #29 “Trap Queen” and Justin Bieber’s #31 “The Feeling (featuring Halsey)” on the listing.
The impressive debut position is attributable to a strong first week sales performance. “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” which became the first song to dethrone Adele’s “Hello” on the US iTunes single sales chart, takes #3 on the overall Digital Songs chart. Even though it was available for only half the November 13-19 tracking week, it posted a greater weekly sales total than everything except Adele’s “Hello” and Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself.”
