Shortly before taking the “Saturday Night Live” stage, Carly Rae Jepsen Tweeted a link to what she referred to as the “heart song” of her album.
“All That,” that song, serves as the second taste of her forthcoming studio album. It was also the focus of her second “SNL” performance.
A stylized yet vulnerable ballad, “All That” digs deeper than current single “I Really Like You” without eradicating Jepsen’s accessibility.
Given the involvement of producer Ariel Rechtshaid, the song predictably wears a clear late-80s/early-90s influence on its sleeve.
A foray into a retro sound is nothing new for Jepsen, but it has previously manifested in the form of uptempo dance-pop songs like “This Kiss.”
Jepsen performed “All That” as her second number during Saturday’s “SNL” broadcast. She led with single “I Really Like You.” Videos of both performances follow.
