Halestorm’s “Apocalyptic” Ranks as Rock Radio’s Most Played Song

Last week, Papa Roach’s “Face Everything and Rise” leapfrogged Three Days Grace’s long-dominant “I Am Machine” to claim #1 on Mediabase’s active rock airplay chart.

This week, “Face Everything and Rise” is poised to find itself leapfrogged. Halestorm’s “Apocalyptic” will be the song doing the jumping.

Per Thursday’s rolling edition of the Mediabase airplay chart, “Apocalyptic” is now the active rock format’s most played song. It received 1,762 spins during the week between March 5 and 11, while “Face Everything and Rise” garnered 1,750.

If “Apocalyptic” can maintain its lead through the release of the official chart on Sunday–and all indications are that it will–it will be formally crowned the format’s #1 song.

The same achievement is likely to occur on next week’s edition of Billboard’s corresponding Mainstream Rock Songs chart. “Apocalyptic” trailed “F.E.A.R.” by a mere 16 spins on this week’s edition of the Billboard chart, and it is gaining airplay at a considerably faster rate.

If it were to reach #1 on Mainstream Rock songs, it would become the band’s second such hit. “Freak Like Me” was the first Halestorm song to reach the chart’s apex.
