Hot 100: Sia’s “Elastic Heart” Starts at #17, Chris Brown & Tyga’s “Ayo” is #40

One benefited from a buzzworthy video (which in turn created sales momentum). One made quick impressions on the digital single sales and radio airplay charts.

Both make solid debuts on this week’s Hot 100.

Sia’s “Elastic Heart,” the former song, debuts at #17 on Billboard’s all-encompassing chart.

Thrust onto the radar by its controversial music video, the song’s impressive Hot 100 debut is owed primarily to its performance on the Streaming Songs subchart. Credited with 9.6 million registered US streams, “Elastic Heart” debuts at #2 on Streaming Songs.

“Elastic Heart” represents Sia’s second career Hot 100 entry as a lead artist. She previously went as high as #8 with the Grammy-nominated “Chandelier.”

Chris Brown & Tyga’s “Ayo,” which enters at #40, does so thanks to its strong sales and early radio traction. The week’s eighth-best-selling digital track, “Ayo” debuts at #29 on Billboard’s urban (mainstream R&B and hip-hop) radio chart and #37 on its rhythmic one.
