Purchased more than 100,000 times last week and bolstered by early airplay and a music video, Selena Gomez’ “The Heart Wants What it Wants” is off to a solid start on the Billboard Hot 100.
Gomez’ “Heart” opens at #25 on the all-encompassing chart. The song thus already outranks previous single “Slow Down” (which peaked at #27) and ranks as the fifth-highest-charting release of her career. Only “Come and Get It” (#6), “Who Says” (#21), “Love You Like a Love Song” (#22) and “Round & Round” (#24) charted higher.
(The latter three were released with band The Scene)
— Also making waves on the Hot 100 this week is Ariana Grande & The Weeknd’s “Love Me Harder.” Fueled by the release of the music video, the song surges seventeen places to #7.
— Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” rises five spots to #13 this week. With sales and airplay still strong and the music video now in the market, the “1989” single is a lock to reach the top ten next week.
