Quickly solidifying itself as a legitimate country hit, Maddie and Tae’s debut single “Girl in a Country Song” enters the Top 25 on the latest edition of Mediabase’s airplay chart.
Tuesday’s rolling chart, which ranks songs based on their airplay between August 19 and August 25, says “Girl” was the country format’s 25th-most-played song. The track garnered 2,253 spins and 14.78 million audience impressions during the measured period.
The recipient of an additional 576 spins this week, “Girl in a Country Song” is the format’s fourth-greatest gainer. Only Blake Shelton’s #27 “Neon Light,” Cole Swindell’s #6 “Hope You Get Lonely Tonight” and Luke Bryan’s #9 “Roller Coaster” gained more new spins between August 19 and August 25.
And insofar as Shelton’s tune was only available for one of the seven days between August 12 and August 18, its week-over-week gain is artificially inflated.
Thanks to solid sales and streaming numbers, Maddie and Tae’s “Girl” is ranked at an even more impressive #17 on Billboard’s all-encompassing Hot Country Songs chart.
