“Idol'”s Jena Irene Storms iTunes Chart with “Creep” Cover

Update: As expected, Jena Irene’s cover of “Creep” has continued its ascent on iTunes Single Sales chart.

As of Wednesday afternoon, it had reached #45 on the digital retailer’s overall track sales chart. It remained the only “American Idol” cover in the top 100.

It received a standing ovation from judges Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez. It was labeled the night’s best performance by judge Harry Connick, Jr.

It was also very well received by the at-home audience. Shortly after Wednesday’s “American Idol” exited the airwaves, Jena Irene’s show-closing rendition of Radiohead’s “Creep” stormed the iTunes Single Sales chart.

As of press time, the song had already reached #96 on the leading digital retailer’s chart. Sure to continue its ascent through Thursday evening, it will easily rank as Jena Irene’s best-selling and one of the show’s hottest items this season.

Alex Preston’s “The a Team,” the next best-selling performance from this week’s “Idol” (and the performance Connick labeled the night’s best before Jena took the stage), is distantly behind at #180.
