George Zimmerman Not Guilty; Jury Acquits in Trayvon Martin Case

The latest high-profile murder trial came to an end Saturday, and it did so with an acquittal from the jury.

On trial for the February 2012 murder of Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman was found “not gulity” on charges of second-degree murder and manslaughter. The ruling, which came from the all-female jury, renders Zimmerman a free-man after a process that had the cable news media in a frenzy.

The ruling came after 16-and-a-half hours of deliberation.

Certainly aiming to continue the ratings-friendly buzz associated with the case, the news media will now look to analyze the prosecution’s failure to meet its burden along with the impact of the ruling on a sharply-polarized, heavily-invested general public.
