Unsurprisingly given CBS president Nina Tassler’s comments that each member of the central gang will meet her character before Ted does, “How I Met Your Mother” has booked Cristin Milioti as a series regular for its ninth and final season.
TV Line first reported the story, noting that Milioti, who was revealed to viewers as the titular mother in Monday’s season eight finale, will appear consistently in the ninth season.
Though flashbacks and flashforwards have not been ruled out, Tassler–and creator Carter Bays–have said that the final season’s central action takes place entirely over Barney and Robin’s wedding weekend, during which Ted eventually meets Milioti’s character.
Milioti becomes the first actor to ever join the core cast–Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Alyson Hannigan and Neil Patrick Harris–as a series regular on “How I Met Your Mother.”
Prior to “Mother,” she appeared in Broadway’s “Once” and on “30 Rock” as a “very sexy baby.”
