CBS announced the launch of several new shows this week, but entertainment industry focus remains glued on “How I Met Your Mother” after its big season finale reveal.
That reveal — that actress Cristin Milioti will play Ted’s Future Wife — sent fans buzzing and reporters scrambling for information about plans for season nine.
Earlier this week, a statement from “Mother” creator Carter Bays seemed to substantiate rumors that the entirety of season nine would be centered around Barney and Robin’s wedding weekend, during which Ted meets the woman who will mother his children.
“Our ninth season will tell the epic story of the longest wedding weekend ever. We hope you like it. Next stop, Farhampton,” explained Bays.
According to TV Line, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler further clarified that point to reports in conjunction with Wednesday’s upfront fare.
Tassler reportedly noted that the wedding weekend will span the entire ninth season. That is not to say flashbacks and flashforwards will not be incorporated, but as far as the central setting goes, it will remain within the confines of the wedding.
The CBS executive also noted that the show will detail how each character meets “The Mother” before Ted eventually does.
