Tuesday’s “X Factor” performance show, based on a Thanksgiving theme, was uplifting and inspirational as most of the performers brought their A games.
Wednesday’s results show was a downer, given the fact that two acts were leaving the competition this week.
Normally, “The X Factor” reveals the bottom two vote-getters and then leaves it in the hands of the judges, who evaluate one final “save me” performance from the contestants before selecting who to send home.
This week, however, the lowest vote-getting act was automatically eliminated. That act, Lakoda Rayne, was forced to depart the competition, representing the end of Paula Abdul’s run as a mentor on the show. All three of her acts are gone.
Then came the second elimination. Leroy Bell and Marcus Canty ended up in the bottom two; the consensus was that Bell delivered the stronger “save me” performance, but LA Reid and Simon Cowell saved Marcus. Nicole and Paula saved Leroy.
That meant the competition went to “deadlock,” which places the power in the hands of the voters. Based on the results, Leroy Bell was the lowest vote-getter and the act departing the competition.
The seven remaining acts perform next week.
