“The X Factor” Ratings Don’t Improve For Night Two

Any internal FOX hope that viewers simply forgot “The X Factor” was to premiere Wednesday was crushed Thursday, as the show did not demonstrate any ratings improvement.

In fact, the overnight metered market rating actually fell from an 8.7 to an 8.3, notes TV Media Insights.

Adults 18-49 numbers are not yet available, but it would seem likely “Factor” landed in the 4.0-4.3 range. Based on similar projections for other shows, it would appear the show lost in the demo to “The Big Bang Theory” at 8PM but might have slightly edged “Grey’s Anatomy” and “The Office” for the victory at 9PM.

If searching for some sort of positive about the show, which is drastically falling short of expectations, one can at least note that the show’s opener was good enough to keep people interested in episode two. Last season’s “American Idol” always did worse on Thursday than Wednesday, so the very slight night-to-night decrease should not necessarily be taken as an “extra” bad thing.
