Foo Fighters’ Album Sales Jump for “Wasting Light,” Top Jessie J, TV on the Radio

Lead single “Rope” might not live up to the lofty standards set by “The Pretender,” but from an album sales standpoint, the Foo Fighters “Wasting Light” is pacing ahead of “Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace.”

Based on opening day sales, Hits Daily Double forecasts “Wasting Light” attaining a first week sales tally of 215-225,000. If sales hold up to that projection, “Wasting Light” will easily surpass the 168,000 opening-week performance for “Echoes.”

The album is also a lock for the top spot on the Billboard 200.

Alison Krauss & Union Station follows as the next best newcomer, with “Paper Airplane” tracking for a debut in the 60-65,000 range. Hits expects Paul Simon’s “So Beautiful or So What” to follow with 55-60,000.

Mana’s “Drama Y Luz” is likely for 50-55,000, while Vevo favorite Jessie J should score 30-35,000 for “Who You Are.”

TV on the Radio’s “Nine Types of Light,” the follow-up to the widely-acclaimed “Dear Science,” looks good for 25-30,000, a Hits-forecasted total shared by Atmosphere’s “The Family Sign.”
