With WWE holding a special Money in the Bank pay-per-view later this year, there is a lot of intrigue regarding how WWE will book the bout.
On the one hand, it would seem illogical that the winner not successfully cash in his briefcase to score the title, as having the MITB winner lose ahead of the PPV would devalue the concept. On the other hand, WWE plans to have the winner cash the belt in soon to avoid overlap between the WrestleMania briefcase and the one(s) from the Money in the Bank PPV later this year.
That is creating some speculation about who will win, as none of the contestants comes across as a clear “champion,” and yet the winner will effectively need to be ready within the next month or two (if not earlier).
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, word as of late suggested Drew McIntyre was to win, a fact made obvious by how his entry into the bout was booked on SmackDown. Christian is considered a dark horse simply because he is most “main event ready” of the competitors.
In the midst of his push several months ago, Kofi Kingston was also considered a frontrunner, but that might have changed given the declining focus he has had on the RAW roster. It is also hard to decipher whether his late entry into the match was because WWE decided it wants him to win or because the company simply wanted him on the card and did not have room anywhere else.
Kofi would be a good unexpected winner giving that there is ten of them this year, but christian or Kane deserves it most.
